My wife was in the late intermediate stage of Alzheimer’s dementia earlier this year, cared for at home by me (her husband) with help from other caregivers. She was restless, bored, could no longer read or follow a television program. Alysha came weekly to sing with her, get her to shake a rattle and dance a little, and generally have best smiles. She developed playlists so we could get her through the difficult times of wakeup, bath, and bed. She is now in Memory Care and I hope to restart music therapy when COVID numbers go down.
